The Nigeria Police Force has transferred officers involved in the extrajudicial killing of Mene Ogidi in Effurun, Delta State, to the Attorney General of the Federation for vetting and prosecution.
The action follows the ratification of their dismissal by the Police Service Commission, after disciplinary proceedings conducted by the Force Disciplinary Committee and Orderly Room Tribunal in Abuja.
Earlier, the police had ordered the immediate dismissal of ASP Nuhu Usman and other officers found culpable in the killing of an unarmed civilian.
The force said the dismissals were carried out in line with statutory procedures, while confirming that all officers involved would be handed over for criminal prosecution.
According to police spokesperson Anthony Placid, due process has now been completed.
He also disclosed that a driver linked to the case and two members of a vigilante group remain at large and are being sought by authorities.
The police reiterated that no officer is above the law and assured that justice will be pursued for the victim’s family, stressing accountability within the force.
