The Federal Government of Nigeria has doubled down on its promise to end bandit violence, declaring that criminal groups will no longer dictate life in Nasarawa State.
Across troubled communities like Udege Kasa, Akyewa, Angwan Ogiri, Apura Adagba, and Udeni Ginda, efforts are being ramped up to reclaim stability after deadly clashes left lives lost and homes destroyed.
During a visit to the affected areas, Abiodun Essiet delivered a firm message: peace is not optional. Residents were warned against being drawn into violence by political interests, especially as tensions rise ahead of election cycles. Any group refusing to honor peace agreements, she said, will face consequences regardless of influence or status.
She also revealed that Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a nationwide ranching plan, pushing states to establish facilities aimed at reducing recurring farmer-herder conflicts fueling unrest.
Local leadership, including retired Commodore Yahaya Owuna, described the destruction as severe, with dozens of homes razed and communities shattered. Calls were made for urgent federal support to help victims rebuild.
With fresh resolve and warnings issued, the message from Abuja is clear: the era of unchecked violence in these communities is being challenged head-on.
