The People’s Democratic Party in Katsina State has raised fresh concerns over worsening insecurity and a struggling education system, warning that both sectors are slipping deeper into crisis.
State chairman Nura Amadi Kurfi said communities are increasingly unsafe and daily life has been disrupted, with economic activities taking a hit as fear spreads across the state. He stressed that security and education—key pillars of development—have been neglected and now demand urgent attention.
Looking back, he pointed to what he described as the party’s “16 golden years” in power, arguing that earlier gains have been undone under the current leadership, leaving behind setbacks across critical sectors.
At the same event, Yakubu Lado, whose governorship ambition drew support from attendees, pledged to confront the state’s challenges head-on. He assured supporters that his focus would centre on restoring safety, rebuilding the education system, and driving broader development ahead of the 2027 elections.
