Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has declared former minister Sadiya Umar Farouq wanted over alleged diversion of about ₦37 billion.

The agency asked the public to provide information on her whereabouts, listing her last known address in Maitama, Abuja.

A Federal Capital Territory High Court had earlier issued a warrant for her arrest after she and other defendants failed to appear in court.

Farouq, who served under Muhammadu Buhari from 2019 to 2023, is accused of abuse of office and mismanagement of funds linked to a social intervention programme.

She is facing a 21-count charge alongside a former permanent secretary and another official over alleged misappropriation of public funds.
