A fresh wave of violence has struck northeastern Nigeria, with Mohammed Ali Ndume confirming that at least 42 students and children were kidnapped after suspected Boko Haram / ISWAP fighters stormed a school in Borno State.

The attack occurred at a government school in the Askira-Uba area, where students were reportedly in class when the assailants struck. According to details provided by school authorities, the victims include pupils from the primary section, secondary school students, and children taken from nearby homes.

Ndume described the incident as deeply disturbing, noting that it has plunged families and the local community into fear and uncertainty. He stressed that the abduction was particularly painful given that the victims were young learners engaged in their studies at the time.

The lawmaker has called on security forces, especially troops under Operation HADIN KAI, to step up rescue operations and ensure the safe return of the abducted children.

The latest incident adds to a series of attacks in southern Borno, including recent violence in Chibok communities, underscoring ongoing security challenges in the region.

Ndume also extended condolences to families affected by the attacks, while urging authorities to take stronger action to protect vulnerable communities and prevent further tragedies.
