Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has firmly dismissed growing speculation that his participation in the African Democratic Congress presidential race is part of a broader arrangement to emerge as a vice-presidential candidate.

Speaking during an interview on Trust TV, Amaechi stated that he purchased the ADC presidential nomination form strictly to contest for Nigeria’s top office, stressing that he has no intention of settling for a secondary role under any coalition arrangement.

The former Rivers governor insisted that if party stakeholders fail to reach a mutual agreement on consensus, the ADC must conduct a transparent and competitive primary election rather than impose any aspirant.

Amaechi also declared confidence in his ability to defeat former Vice President Atiku Abubakar at the party primaries, arguing that repeated primary victories do not necessarily translate into electoral success at the national level.

While criticising President Bola Tinubu over governance and rising ethnic tensions, Amaechi surprisingly said both Atiku and Peter Obi would perform better if given the opportunity to govern the country.

He further emphasised the need for national unity, inclusive governance, education reforms, and stronger security measures, saying every region of the country must feel genuinely represented within the Nigerian federation.

Meanwhile, PDP chieftain Umar Sani claimed former President Goodluck Jonathan has already obtained the PDP presidential nomination form ahead of the 2027 election, intensifying speculation about a possible political comeback
