The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has warned that lecturers are rapidly losing confidence in the federal government over delays in implementing the 2025 FGN-ASUU agreement.
The union accused authorities of failing to set up the implementation monitoring committee meant to drive the agreement, while alleging that universities are selectively paying allowances instead of fully integrating agreed benefits into lecturers’ salaries.
ASUU also raised concerns over unresolved issues at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University and Imo State University, including withheld salaries, delayed promotions, unpaid arrears, and poor university autonomy.
Although the union said it does not enjoy going on strike, it warned that the current situation is eroding the trust and goodwill created after the agreement was signed earlier this year.
