The Nigerian Labour Congress has announced a June 1 crackdown on companies and institutions accused of deducting workers’ pensions without remitting them to PFAs.

Lagos NLC Chairperson, Funmi Sessi, warned that both foreign and local employers exploiting Nigerian workers would face picketing, prosecution, and public exposure, insisting workers must not retire into poverty after years of service.

The union said it would partner with PenCom to deploy enforcement teams across Lagos to identify defaulting employers and ensure compliance with pension laws.

PenCom DG Bridget Oloworaran also vowed to make life difficult for employers denying workers access to pension plans, as labour leaders accused some firms of turning Nigeria into a haven for labour abuse despite stricter standards in their home countries.
