Spanish club FC Barcelona have agreed a deal worth over €80m, including add-ons, to sign winger Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United.
The agreement reportedly includes an initial €70m fee, while performance-related add-ons are expected to push the total value beyond €80m after Newcastle’s Saudi-backed ownership approved the offer.
Gordon is expected to arrive in Barcelona on Thursday to complete his medical and finalise contract formalities ahead of his move to Camp Nou.
The England international ended the 2025 campaign as Newcastle’s leading scorer with 18 goals in all competitions. Although he signed a long-term extension at St James’ Park in October 2024 and still had four years remaining on his contract, reports linking him with a summer exit continued to grow in recent weeks.
The winger was also left on the bench for Newcastle’s final four matches of the season, with reports suggesting the club wanted to avoid any injury risk before completing a possible transfer.
German side Bayern Munich were also interested in signing the former Everton winger earlier this month as they looked to strengthen an attacking line-up featuring Harry Kane, Michael Olise and Luis Diaz.
Barcelona, however, moved swiftly to complete negotiations for Gordon before the FIFA Club World Cup, with the transfer now close to being officially concluded.
