President Bola Tinubu has congratulated elder statesman, Alhaji Ashafa Ajibola Erogbogbo, on the occasion of his 100th birthday anniversary celebrated on May 28, 2026.

In a tribute issued on Wednesday, the President praised the centenarian for a lifetime of dedication, integrity and service to humanity and the country.

“I extend warm greetings to Alhaji Ashafa Ajibola Erogbogbo, an elder statesman and retired aviation supervisor at Shell Company Nigeria Limited, as he marks his centenary on May 28,” Tinubu stated.

“Reaching 100 years is a remarkable milestone, a rare blessing, and a reward for a life of discipline, dedication, integrity, and selfless service to humanity and the nation.

”Tinubu joined the family of the elder statesman in thanking God for his long life and contributions to national development through his years of service at the Government Printing Press, Nigeria Customs and Excise, and Shell Company Nigeria Limited.

“I join your family in giving glory to God for your century-long journey and your contributions to national development, particularly through your service years at Government Printing Press, Nigeria Customs and Excise and later Shell Company Nigeria Limited,” the President said.

“In all the places where you worked, you demonstrated professionalism, diligence, and a commitment to excellence.

”The President also acknowledged Erogbogbo’s influence as a respected community leader and mentor in Ikorodu, Lagos State.

“Your role as a respected community leader in Ikorodu, Lagos State and mentor is widely acknowledged. Your wisdom, counsel, and exemplary lifestyle continue to inspire younger generations,” he added.

Tinubu further noted that the centenarian, who is the father of the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, remains mentally alert and cheerful despite his age.

“It is noteworthy that you, the father of Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), remain sharp of mind and warm of spirit at this advanced age,” he stated.

The President rejoiced with the family as they marked the occasion and also referenced the publication of Erogbogbo’s life story titled, “Echoes of Grace: The Journey of a Century.”

“I rejoice with you, your children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as you celebrate this extraordinary milestone. I also look forward to reading your life story, ‘Echoes of Grace: The Journey of a Century,’ published to mark your birthday,” Tinubu said.

“As you celebrate this milestone, I pray that Almighty Allah will continue to sustain you with good health, peace, strength, and happiness.”
