Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has officially accepted the presidential ticket of the APM for the 2027 election, pledging to steer Nigeria through practical reforms, accountable governance, and policies focused on improving citizens’ daily lives.
Speaking at a gathering in Ibadan attended by party leaders, delegates, and political allies from across the country, Makinde said his presidential ambition is rooted in the need to restore public confidence in government and reposition the nation for sustainable growth.
The governor stressed that Nigeria possesses the resources and human capacity to overcome its challenges, provided leadership is guided by honesty, discipline, and realistic solutions rather than rhetoric.
Outlining his vision, Makinde promised sweeping reforms in the oil and gas sector, including restructuring the NNPC into a more efficient and commercially viable institution capable of delivering greater benefits to Nigerians.
He also highlighted food security as a major priority, arguing that a country blessed with vast agricultural potential should not have millions of citizens struggling with hunger.
According to him, his campaign will be built on competence, transparency, and measurable outcomes, assuring Nigerians that his administration would focus on solving real problems rather than making unrealistic promises.
The event also featured endorsements from political stakeholders across different regions, with supporters describing Makinde as a candidate capable of driving national renewal and economic transformation.
