Liverpool are on the verge of appointing Andoni Iraola as their new manager after reaching an agreement in principle with the Spaniard to take charge of the club.

The move follows the departure of Arne Slot, with the Reds moving quickly to identify and secure a successor ahead of the new season.

Iraola emerged as Liverpool’s preferred choice after an impressive spell at Bournemouth, where he guided the club to a historic sixth-place finish and secured European football for the first time in its history.

Negotiations accelerated over the past few days, culminating in a breakthrough that is expected to see the 43-year-old take over at Anfield.

Liverpool reportedly considered several alternatives during the search process, but Iraola consistently remained at the top of the club’s shortlist due to his attacking philosophy, tactical flexibility and strong record of improving teams.

Reports also suggest the club consulted former manager Jürgen Klopp during the selection process, while discussions have begun regarding the backroom staff Iraola could bring with him.

With terms now largely agreed, Liverpool are expected to complete the remaining formalities before officially unveiling Iraola as the man tasked with leading the club into a new era.
