Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has disclosed that security agencies recently foiled an alleged plot to bomb the Ondo State Government House following intelligence-led operations.
Speaking during an interview, the governor said security operatives acted on reports of suspicious activities involving a group of youths believed to be planning an attack. The suspects were initially traced to a hotel before relocating to a rented apartment, where security personnel reportedly recovered materials linked to the alleged plot.
According to Aiyedatiwa, a joint operation involving the police and the Amotekun Corps led to the arrest of the suspects, who remain in custody while investigations continue.
The governor said the incident demonstrates the value of intelligence gathering and proactive security measures, noting that many security successes often go unnoticed because attacks are prevented before they occur.
He also highlighted ongoing collaboration among South-West governors to improve regional security through intelligence sharing and coordinated initiatives. In addition, Aiyedatiwa welcomed the conviction of individuals connected to the 2022 attack on St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, describing the judgment as a victory for justice.The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening security through enhanced surveillance, intelligence gathering, and cooperation among security agencies and local communities.
