Governor Monday Okpebholo has condemned the recent wave of kidnappings affecting students, teachers, and other citizens across parts of Nigeria, urging those responsible to free all victims without conditions.

Speaking during the launch of the APC campaign for local government elections in Edo South Senatorial District, the governor described the abductions as unacceptable and warned against using insecurity as a tool for political gain.

Okpebholo stressed that criminal activities such as kidnapping and banditry cannot serve as pathways to political power, insisting that ambition must never be pursued through violence, fear, or lawlessness.

He expressed particular concern over the abduction of students and teachers in Oyo State and other affected areas, calling for urgent action to secure their safe return.

According to the governor, insecurity should not be allowed to undermine ongoing development efforts or distract governments from delivering meaningful progress to citizens.

Okpebholo also used the occasion to commend the policies of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly the removal of fuel subsidy, which he said has increased financial resources available to states for infrastructure and development projects.

Reaffirming his political support for the president, the Edo governor declared that the state would continue to back the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He concluded by urging security agencies and relevant authorities to intensify efforts against kidnappers and ensure that victims across the country regain their freedom as quickly as possible.
