The Osun State Police Command has advised political parties, candidates, supporters, and stakeholders to temporarily halt campaign activities and public political gatherings in Oriade Local Government Area due to mounting security concerns.

According to the state Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, the decision was informed by credible intelligence reports and the failure of ongoing efforts to broker peace among political actors in the area.

The police command said attempts to convene a peace meeting involving the concerned parties ended without agreement, making it necessary to recommend the suspension of political activities as a precautionary measure.

Authorities explained that the move is aimed at preventing possible violence, preserving public order, and safeguarding lives and property amid heightened political tensions.

The command urged all political groups and residents to comply with the advisory in the interest of maintaining peace and stability within the local government area.

Police also reassured the public of their commitment to ensuring security across the state and called on residents to remain law-abiding while cooperating with security agencies.
