Nigerian music star Davido used the global stage of the FIFA World Cup 2026 Countdown Concert in Los Angeles to draw attention to the plight of dozens of abducted pupils and teachers from Oyo State.

During his performance at the event, the Afrobeats sensation appeared in a specially designed black leather jacket carrying the message “Bring Them Home,” transforming his appearance into a powerful appeal for the safe return of the victims.

The jacket featured green circular badges displaying the names of the 39 schoolchildren and seven teachers who were kidnapped during an attack on a secondary school in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State in May.

Photos and videos shared by the singer highlighted the names of the victims, while the campaign was amplified through the hashtag #BringThemHome.

The abduction occurred when armed assailants reportedly stormed Community High School in the Ahoro-Esinele community, kidnapping dozens of pupils, teachers and the school principal. The attack also resulted in the deaths of several individuals, further deepening national concern over insecurity and attacks on educational institutions.

According to campaign organisers, the jacket carried additional symbolism, with the names of victims believed to still be in captivity written in white, while those who lost their lives were displayed in red.

By using one of the most visible events linked to the build-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Davido brought international attention to a tragedy that has continued to generate concern across Nigeria.

His gesture has since sparked widespread reactions online, with many commending the singer for using his platform to keep public focus on the victims and support ongoing calls for their rescue and reunification with their families.
