The Ekiti State Police Command has taken four Pakistani nationals into custody after residents of Iyin-Ekiti in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area raised concerns about their presence in the community.

The suspects were arrested following reports from locals who became uneasy about the activities of unfamiliar individuals in the area, prompting security agencies to launch an immediate response.

According to reports, officers attached to the Iyin-Ekiti Police Division acted on a distress call received on June 9 and subsequently apprehended the four men during an operation in the community.

The individuals, identified as Muhammad Yusuf, Ghani Abdul, Abdul Jabbar and Yusuf Muhammad, reportedly informed investigators that they had travelled to Nigeria for mobile phone trading and tourism-related activities.

However, security sources indicated that the men were unable to provide convincing explanations and relevant documentation regarding their activities and reasons for being in the area at the time of questioning.

The suspects have since been placed in police custody as authorities conduct further investigations to verify their identities, establish the purpose of their visit and determine whether any laws were violated.

The police command has appealed to residents to remain calm and continue cooperating with security agencies by reporting suspicious activities, while assuring the public that measures are in place to protect lives and property as investigations continue.
