Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called for stronger efforts to eliminate child labour and ensure a brighter future for children across the country.

In a message marking the 2026 World Day Against Child Labour, she urged Nigerians to stand against practices that deprive children of their rights to education, safety, dignity and proper development.

Referencing this year’s theme, “Red Card to Child Labour: Fair Play for Children, Decent Work for Adults,” Mrs Tinubu stressed that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow and pursue their ambitions in a safe environment.

She noted that children should be in homes, schools and playgrounds rather than being subjected to labour that limits their future prospects.

The First Lady also encouraged continued investment in the welfare of children and called for initiatives that support families and communities in caring for them.

She appealed to Nigerians to unite in rejecting child labour and work towards creating a fairer and more hopeful future for every child.
