Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the Nigerian Army, commending the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, for strengthening security and improving the welfare of military personnel.
Speaking during a courtesy visit by the Army Chief at the Government House in Port Harcourt, the governor congratulated Shaibu on his achievements since assuming office, expressing confidence that his leadership would further enhance the Army’s effectiveness.
Fubara also welcomed the decision to host this year’s Nigerian Army Day Celebration in Rivers State, describing it as evidence of the state’s improved security environment and growing public confidence in ongoing peace efforts.
He assured the Army of sustained cooperation, promising that the state government would continue to provide the necessary support to enable military personnel to carry out their duties effectively. He added that Rivers State would fully support activities lined up for the Army Day celebration, including facility upgrades required for the event.
The governor praised the General Officer Commanding 6 Division, Major General Emmanuel Emekah, and other military personnel for their contributions to maintaining peace across the state.
He further credited the military’s operations against pipeline vandalism and crude oil theft for Nigeria’s increasing crude oil production and improved oil revenues, saying the gains were benefiting the country as a whole.
In his remarks, Chief of Army Staff Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu appreciated Governor Fubara for his continued support to the Nigerian Army, particularly in facilitating its operations in Rivers State and hosting the Army Day celebration.
