The death toll from the devastating twin earthquakes that struck Venezuela on June 24 has risen to 3,535, while more than 16,700 people have been injured, according to updated official figures.

The powerful earthquakes flattened entire communities in La Guaira State, leaving over 17,000 people homeless, with thousands still believed to be missing beneath the rubble. The United Nations estimates that up to 50,000 people remain unaccounted for.

As rescue operations gradually give way to recovery efforts, international search teams have begun withdrawing from the country, while authorities continue clearing debris and recovering bodies.

Officials have also started burying unidentified victims in a mass cemetery in La Guaira, as grieving families continue searching for missing loved ones in hopes of giving them a proper burial.
