The Nigerian military says 27 terrorists were killed in coordinated air strikes targeting insurgent strongholds in Borno State.
According to the Nigerian Army, the air component of Operation Hadin Kai carried out precision attacks on terrorist hideouts in Kukawa and Guzamala Local Government Areas. The strikes reportedly killed 12 terrorists in Dawoshe, Kukawa LGA, and another 15 in Metele, Guzamala LGA.
The military said the operations formed part of a wider intelligence-driven campaign conducted across several states. In addition to the air strikes, troops arrested 10 suspected criminals, rescued eight kidnap victims, and recovered weapons, ammunition, stolen vehicles, and other items.
Joint ground and air operations were carried out in Borno, Plateau, Nasarawa, Akwa Ibom and the Federal Capital Territory.
In Borno, troops also arrested a suspected terrorist along the Mandara Girau–Sabon Gari route in Biu LGA and recovered supplies including communication gadgets, food items, batteries, blankets and herbicides believed to be intended for insurgents.
Security forces also thwarted a kidnapping attempt near Kareto and safely rescued six civilians.In Plateau State, troops arrested a suspected kidnapper and cattle rustler in Bokkos LGA, recovering ammunition, an AK-47 magazine, a laptop, a mobile phone and military-style clothing. Four additional suspects were arrested in Jos, where a locally made pistol and ammunition were recovered.
In Nasarawa State, troops rescued two kidnap victims after their abductors fled. A follow-up raid uncovered a suspected criminal hideout containing a locally fabricated firearm, live cartridges, communication devices, foreign and local currencies, and N1.8 million believed to be proceeds of crime.
In the FCT, security personnel intercepted two suspected car thieves along the Abuja-Lokoja highway and recovered a stolen Mercedes-Benz E350. Investigators believe the suspects were attempting to move the vehicle out of Abuja for sale.
Meanwhile, anti-crude oil theft operations in Akwa Ibom State led to the recovery of about 325 litres of suspected stolen Automotive Gas Oil hidden in sacks in Ikot Abasi LGA. The military said the recovered products have been handed over to the appropriate authorities.
