Several Nigerians have been injured after Iran launched another wave of missile and drone attacks targeting locations in the United Arab Emirates, authorities confirmed.

According to officials, the strikes were aimed at facilities and assets linked to the United States in the Gulf region. The attacks form part of the escalating regional conflict involving Iran and Western allies.

The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Defence said the attacks left at least six people dead and more than 140 others injured, including foreign nationals such as Nigerians living and working in the country.

Many of the injuries were reportedly caused by falling debris and shrapnel after air defence systems intercepted several incoming missiles and drones.

Authorities explained that the majority of the projectiles were successfully intercepted by air defence systems, but fragments from destroyed missiles damaged property in parts of Abu Dhabi and Dubai and injured civilians.

The attacks are part of a broader wave of Iranian strikes across the Middle East following recent military actions involving the United States and its allies. Since the escalation began in late February, hundreds of missiles and drones have reportedly been launched toward Gulf states.

Nigerians are among the largest expatriate communities in the UAE, with many working in sectors such as construction, hospitality and business. The development has raised concern among families in Nigeria whose relatives live in the Gulf country.

Authorities in the UAE say emergency services responded quickly to affected areas while hospitals treated those injured in the incident.
